Safeguard Your Home As Well As Your Family By Using Personal Alarms

August 22nd, 2010

I just recently lost my husband, who left me four children to raise. This has made me doubly concerned for my family’s safety. In fact, I bought personal security alarms to protect my loved ones from danger.

There are numerous personal security alarms I found at web sites and bought the best ones for house and travel safety.

For one, the Mini Travel Alarm with PIR Sensor I purchased for myself sounds a 100 dB alarm in 15 seconds. It suits me best when I travel. Designed with a LED flashlight, it has a motion detector that is effective for up to 9 feet.

I obtained the Mini Personal Alarm with clip for my girls, Kate and Jenna. Each can easily put one inside her pocket or clip it onto her belt before going home from ballet lessons every weekend. It has an alarm of 101 dB that can be activated in just one click of a button.

The PAL – 130L Keychain Alarm I ordered for my two sons, John and Ken, sounds a 139 dB alarm and has a flashing light when the pin affixed to the keychain is pulled or when the button is clicked on top of the product.

I purchased the 2 in 1 Doorknob Safety Alarm for our back door, hung it on the doorknob, which made the doorknob into a shock-sensitive burglar alarm. It emits a 120 dB alert when an intruder touches it.

Thanks to these personal security alarms, I can sleep well at night. I purchased the PAL – 1 130 dB Safety Alarm to put on our front window. It has an alarm equivalent to eight 100 dB alarms all in one place, which will sound when the strap on its alarm pin is pulled.

I am so happy to have bought these personal security alarms from a web site. They make me and my family safe every day.

Silk Flowers For Silk Arrangements Or The Real Thing? You Decide.

July 25th, 2010

Floral arrangements have not undergone a lot of changes. As early as 2,500 B. C. when the Egyptians started doing them, they are still the same as what we have in practice today as depicted in their wall carvings and wall writings. Different occasions like burials and processions call for floral arrangements. They are also being used as early as then for table centerpieces. Up until today, they are still being used for the same purposes, and more.

Flower arrangements are always delightful to behold. They can help make any boring room look otherwise. Offices, homes, and different types of functions simply cannot do without them. Bouquets, table centerpieces, and wreaths are the most common forms of floral arrangements and they are used for different types of special occasions. Florists usually make it a point to make sure that they use the best flowers and have them arranged to make sure they would suit the occasion they are intended for. This way, they stay in business by giving you your money’s worth.

Because of the intricacy of their arrangements as well as the costs of fresh flowers, flower arrangements definitely do not come cheap, especially during the holiday seasons, like Valentine’s Day or Christmas Day or Thanksgiving. Florists are definitely taking advantage of these seasons to be able to sell their wares up to triple their normal selling prices, and because of this, people who badly wants to have them or who really needs them simply couldn’t to budget constraints.

Artificial silk arrangements significantly changed the way people look at floral arrangements ever since they were first introduced in the market. Silk flowers are seen as a practical alternative to use for silk arrangements instead of having the real thing. Not only are they guaranteed to last even a lifetime as long as they are well taken care of, they are also very much cheaper than the real floral arrangements. They are most especially appealing if you have a need to use them daily or if you are planning to give them away because they are ideal to keep as mementos.

There is a way to have silk arrangements even cheaper. You can make them yourself! All you need to have are the following:

1. Creativity

2. Silk flowers and leaves

3. Wire frames to have them conform to the shape you like

4. Ground clay to help you in making them stand properly

5. Decorative items, like sea shells and beads

6. Nylon netting for keeping them clumped together

7. Printed or plain linen for bouquet arrangements

Opting for silk arrangements really is a more practical thing to do. They offer the same look and feel that real ones but do not cost as much. What more can you ask for?

Changing Office Interiors For A Productivity Boost

July 12th, 2010

For many, offices are supposed to be dull and boring spots to work. They are often painted in neutral tones and quite drab. The focus is on work, not interior decorating. That being said, office interiors actually affect how productive employees are. You can change things around and make the office more inviting to help stimulate enthusiasm and creativity.

One of the first things to consider is the furniture. It should be functional, but comfortable. Employees who are not comfortable will be constantly getting up to go to the bathroom or get water just to stretch and get out the kinks. While comfy furniture costs a bit more, it will actually go right into productivity.

The equipment that is used also has an effect on how people work. If your computers are years out of date, no one is going to be terribly motivated to use them. Keep equipment up to date and running so that your employees can do their jobs properly. This has a major impact on how motivated people are to do their jobs, as well. When things don’t work properly, the frustration levels rise and people will feel unsatisfied with their jobs.

Aside from the more technical areas of the office, there are many other factors that impact the way people work. Color is one. Look at changing up the wall colors. Skip the tan, it’s so last decade, and look for something a bit more interesting. Green or blue are both great choices and can really liven up an office. Furniture can also be purchased in colors, so set a color theme and enjoy.

Letting employees decorate their own spaces is a great way to go. They can put up photos and motivational items that will help them work harder. It’s easier to remember why you’re working when you are looking at a photo of your children. This is a good way to help increase productivity and workplace enthusiasm.

For many companies, it’s useful to create a positive environment. Hang motivational photos on the wall, make someone employee of the month and feature them. Create positivity and it will come back to you.

The lights can really affect how people work, too. Insufficient lighting will cause headaches and a general mood drop. Fluorescent lights are particularly bad for this, with their buzzing and flickering. Make sure you provide your employees with great lights, and they will work better. Consider using lamps and task lighting where necessary.

There are so many factors that relate to productivity that it is rarely possible to change them all. However, even a few small steps in the right direction can make a big difference.

When it comes down to it, office interiors are rarely what they could be. Just a few changes can make a big difference. Adding some color, allowing employees to hang their own pictures and ensuring that they have a comfortable place to work are all methods of making your office a better place to work.

Office Furniture In The New Living Room

June 30th, 2010

There is a trend in families using the office or den as the family area. This once belonged only to the living room. Most people even put their television and other media into the living room. Now families want to be closer together and most people are spending a lot of time on the computer. While some might be using laptops and hanging out in the living room; those with desktops are on the office furniture and either surfing the web or working.

With the internet many people are spending more time in front of a computer. There are many companies that have noticed this and are trying to make some of those favorite applications available on the television. While they are working that out; people are in the office in front of the computer. Many people have even switched to larger sized monitors so that they family can enjoy the activities taking place on the screen without having to squint.

Families now gather around computers and share the stories of their day as they play a game on a social networking site. With this is mind, it might be a good time to make the office a little more conducive to a home feeling. Maybe some new comfortable chairs or an upgrade to that desk you have had for fifteen years?

Changing the room from a drab place of all business isn’t as hard as you might think. To make this room more inviting, entertain the idea of adding more chairs. There are very comfortable office chairs that will provide a cozy spot for others to hang out. If you can fit a sofa or a love seat then consider using those instead of the chairs.

Some are putting a television into the room. The family comes in and watches a movie or a program while you are working. If it is not a distraction, then it is another way to spend time with the family. If it is a distraction then let them know that you are working. If not a television, then consider a music device. Music has for centuries brought people together.

Using rugs can really add warmth to a room. It can give a really good family vibe to the normally dull office. Drapes are also a nice way to spice up the area, especially if they match the rug. It keeps the room professional and inviting at the same time.

Turn the area into a cozy family room with a lamp. Lamp light offers a soothing and comfortable light as opposed to harsh overhead lights. Try using a soft light light bulb along with a color lamp shade. If you can get the shade to match the room then it will have a more unified look to it.

More and more families are moving into this room for family time. It may be time to give the office a make over with some stylish office furniture. You can make the selection of the furniture a family event.
