Three SEO Myths Proven Wrong

October 23rd, 2011

There have been many myths surrounding the search engine industry, but the main reason these myths keep coming up is because of lack of information. Internet marketers often pick up half-truths and share these with others, and in this way myths are born. Let us now expose a few of these myths so that you won’t fall victim to them in the future.

Let’s start with the idea that you have to optimize long tail keywords in order to have them rank well. You can find this myth in many internet marketing circles. But no, you don’t need to do any optimization work for the long tail keyword phrases, mainly because they are already uncompetitive and not many people are searching for these keywords in the search engines. That’s why it’s simple to rank for long tail keywords. As long as you put these keywords into your content, you can rank for them, though this is not optimization. There’s nothing more to it than that. Long tail keywords are worth targeting because you don’t have to spend time on optimization for them.

Another myth is that you should use the words from your Meta tag on that particular page. While this is a myth, it is still widely believed and taught by SEO professionals. These keyword tags are meant to be used to find words that don’t already appear on the page. The main point, however, is that neither Google nor Yahoo use these tags for ranking.

There is also a myth regarding your page content. People think that they need a minimum number of words on their site to help boost their rank. But there is no real optimal number that you should use as far as your content goes. People assume that more words means they can make use of keywords better. But that doesn’t mean having a shorter copy doesn’t work well.

A short copy can be used as effectively as a longer version. The quality of your site’s content should be the main focus, not trying to impress search engines. Concentrate on putting out useful information when writing your content, not the amount of words. It’s a good idea to do as much research as you can, so you don’t believe in this kind of myth. Believing in myths can cost you time as well as money, so be careful about what sources of information you consult. Having the right information is essential for your success.

Writing an Article

February 12th, 2011

Writing an article is an inexpensive and easy way to promote your business and attract high quality traffic to a website. Article marketing helps to build your credibility as an authority in your industry and attract high volumes of quality traffic to your website.

Writing an article is a simple process which anyone can do. If you follow the simple steps included in this article you will be a pro in no time.

Step #1: Target your audience

When you’re writing an article it’s important to picture yourself in your prospects shoes. Visualize what they want then deliver your content based on what they are looking for.

Once you know what you prospect wants you’ll then have a captive audience.

Step #2: Choose your keywords

The whole reason for writing an article is to get your target audience to read it. They’ll never see your article if you don’t choose your keywords wisely. There are two types of keywords to look for when you write an article. They are called short tailed and long tailed.

An example of a short tailed keyword would be “write articles.” An example of a long tailed keyword would be “how to write articles.”

Choosing a long-tailed keyword over a short-tailed keyword when writing an article will give you the best chance of getting your article viewed by your prospect. Long-tail keywords are more specific than short-tailed keywords and there is far less competition fighting for your prospect.

Step #3: Choose your topic

Once you’ve picked what long tailed keyword that you want to use, it’s time to chose the topic that you are going to write about.

For example, if your long-tail keyword is “writing an article,” than your topic could be “steps to writing an article correctly.”

Step #4: Start writing your article

The most important part to writing an article is to just get started. The process should take less than an hour to finish and don’t be too concerned about making sure that it’s perfect.

Easy step to follow when writing an article:

1. Choose 3 main points to your article and make those into one sentence each. 2. Write 3-5 sentences for each of your 3 main points. 3. The 3 main points will be the first sentence of the three main paragraphs. 4. The 3-5 sentences will be the body of each paragraph.

Now that your 3 main paragraphs are complete all you need is an introduction.

*To make your introduction all you need to do is write three to four sentences that summarize the 3 paragraphs.

All that’s left now is the conclusion.

*To write your conclusion all you need to do is write 2-3 sentences that sum up the 3 main points of your article.

Step #5: Writing the title of the article

It’s important to follow these steps when writing the title of the article.

1. Make sure that your entire keyword is in the article title. 2. Insert your keyword as close to the beginning of your article as possible. 3. People like to have their questions answered, so if you can make your title a question.

Step #6: Distribute your article to directories

You’ll want to submit your article to as many directories as possible if you want them to rank high in the search engines.

There are some automated tools that will submit your site automatically to hundreds of directories for you. These tools are a tremendous time saver and are worth the investment. The best tool that I recommend using for submitting articles automatically is Unique Article Wizard.

Writing an article correctly is a tremendous way to advertise your business without breaking the bank. If your article is written the right way, it can rank very high in the search engines.

Here’s the best part. Article marketing is free to use. If you write quality articles then you can have free traffic and dominate the search engines for years to come.
